HIKING - NORTH TRAIL
NORTH PATHS, flat - wide - unique
Enjoyable hiking the North German way. Hiking is the ideal way to explore and enjoy the Rotenburg (Wümme) district in any season. On foot through nature! Be at one with nature. In fresh air and natural silence you can breathe deeply and relax. In winter, when the snow covers the landscape in white, in spring, with the lush green of the meadows and trees, in summer when the cornflowers bloom, or in autumn during the "Indian summer" in the forests. The undulating ups and downs of the Geest, the diverse landscape and the numerous museums guarantee variety. The lack of steep climbs makes hiking a leisurely pleasure. Let yourself be fascinated by the unique nature of our region. The quality of the NORDPFADE trails also promises the highest hiking pleasure!
At the end of your hike, you are welcome to stop by our restaurant or spend a pleasant night in our hotel. As a quality hiking host, we are geared towards the needs of hikers.
Five
NORTHERN PATHS
are located right next to us. The 32.5 km long NORDPFAD Wümmeniederung runs right past our house. The other four NORDPFAD trails in the area are quickly accessible. These are:
NORTH PATH
Wümme lowlands (32 km)

Endless expanse under a wildly moving sky
Since the penultimate Ice Age, the Wümme River has formed a unique North German river landscape: the Wümme Lowlands, with their meadows, floodplains, and wooded dunes. The NORDPFAD trail runs along the river at different times, offering magnificent views of the expansive meadows of the Wümme Lowlands.
NORDPFAD
Dör´t Moor (10 km)

On natural paths through moor, forest and heath
The 654-hectare "Großes und Weißes Moor" nature reserve is one of the best-preserved raised bogs in Lower Saxony. NABU Rotenburg, together with the Rotenburg (Wümme) district, has created four nature trails here, including the "Dör't Moor" NORTH PATH. A delight for any nature lover!
NORDPFAD
Wolfsgrund (5 km)

Landscape history trail for people with reduced mobility
The NORTH PATH leads over a geest ridge, past the Wolfsgrund nature reserve – one of the largest contiguous heathland areas outside of the Lüneburg Heath, with its inland dunes and depressions; all testaments to the interplay between warm and ice ages.
NORTH PATH
Rotenburg Water Kingdom (21 km)

City - Country - River
Wherever you start in Rotenburg, you'll quickly find yourself on the river! Three rivers, the Wümme, Rodau, and Wiedau, flow through the district town. The city is always present, but at the same time, far away, especially when hiking through the meadows, forests, and moorland landscapes and reaching the Bullensee lakes.
NORTH PATH
Federlohmühlen (14 km)

Mill romance amidst enchanted forests
A hike from the beautiful farming village of Riekenbostel through magnificent and diverse forests to the idyllic mill of the picturesque Federlohmühlen – perfect for relaxing and recharging!
NORDPFAD
Kempowskis Idylle
(12 km)

Moors, megalithic tombs and hometown of a famous writer.
The NORTH PATH invites you to explore the Steinfelder Holz forest, the Stellingsmoor, and the village of Nartum, a village of 750 inhabitants surrounded by fields and meadows. Walter Kempowski, a prominent German writer of the 20th century, lived here for 42 years.
