NORTHERN PATHS
flat - wide - unique
The gentle breeze, the flat land, the sweeping views, and the North German tranquility – that's how hiking on the Northern Trails near Rotenburg (Wümme) between Bremen and Hamburg can best be described. Here you'll find an oasis of North German serenity, completely free of hustle and bustle and also completely free of mountains. The Dör't Moor Northern Trail winds its way 10.3 km between moors, forests, and heaths, past the Großer Bullensee, a small observation tower with views over the moorland, and a picnic area in the countryside where, upon prior reservation, you can enjoy regional delicacies. The views out into the countryside are also beautiful, where no hill or mountain obscures the view as far as the horizon, allowing your thoughts to wander far, far away. Only occasionally, and with a bit of luck, will a deer hop across the path, a trumpeting crane glide across the sky, or a frog leap merrily croak through its wet realm.
Five NORTH PATHS are located in our immediate vicinity. The Wümmeniederung NORTH PATH, with a total length of 32.5 km, runs right past our house. The other four NORTH PATHS in the surrounding area are easily accessible.
